Idaho Conservatives Guiding Principles

Here’s who we are.
At Idaho Conservatives, we are:

(1) CIVIL AND RESPECTFUL
Our communications with others will be civil and respectful at all times. We don’t tolerate or participate in name-calling or “below the belt” attacks. We focus on the substance of arguments and concepts rather than making personal attacks.

(2) INCLUSIVE OF DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES
While we believe in conservative principles, we value all points of view. We invite all to participate in a civil and respectful manner. If we make an argument about a particular topic or position, we welcome a civil and respectful rebuttal from the opposing side.

(3) ADVOCATES FOR OPEN & TRANSPARENT GOVERNMENT
Openness and transparency are critical to maintaining a high standard of ethical government and public trust. We believe the public has a right to be involved and to know how decisions are made.

(4) THOUGHTFUL, NOT OBSTRUCTIONIST
We value listening to all points of view with an open mind. Before making public policy decisions, we encourage the collection of accurate information, thoughtfulness, and the analysis of costs and benefits of possible outcomes. We disagree with tactics used to obstruct the process of government in order to obtain a particular outcome, such as filibusters, which waste time and create adversity.

(5) DEDICATED TO CONSERVATIVE PRINCIPLES
Most importantly, we are dedicated to conservative principles such as the preservation of our Rights as secured by the Constitution of the United States, the Bill of Rights and other inspired documents which our forefathers carefully crafted at the formation of our great country. We are dedicated to the Constitution of the State of Idaho. We value compassion, integrity in word and deed, and conflict resolution. We value the conservative principles of the Republican Party and will work in unity with the party to elect conservative leaders in all areas of government.

We vow to work in good faith with those who affiliate themselves with other parties or platforms and with anyone within the Republican Party whose views or values differ from ours.
